Eyes for the hills
Eyes for the Hills
Dusk, shadow, evening light, Tinfoil, Indian ink, Aquathane.
Delaney Davidson presents a show of works stemming from time in the Stoddard Cottage residency May 2023 catapulting him headlong back into his fascination with landscape painting.
Too few hours in the day and too many sightings to try and bring into being left him stranded between capturing the vision at the risk of misrepresentation, and a light handed touch to suggestion.
Having grown up in and around the Port Hills Delaney has always been watching them either from the classroom window or through the windscreen of his night-time driving, so Nocturnes feature heavily in these evocative pictures.
Showing a healthy disregard for the actual and some trust in process Davidson’s paintings are crouching somewhere comfortably in the middle of being something and not being something. Locally sublime yet regionally specific.
The show will run from Feb 2nd through til the 25th.
